Blake Isbell is an American Pop/Rock music artist. Born and raised in Coolidge, Texas, he currently resides in San Antonio, Texas. Blake writes and records his own music to showcase his storytelling to the fullest extent. His first single “RING!” was released October 23, 2020, telling the story of a lonely bellringer trying to receive notice.
“The Tales of Navarro” explores the young artist’s experience at his first college, Navarro College, and relates it to a fantasy aesthetic. It is often praised by its unique sound and story telling. The album is conceptual and tells one big story throughout the 13 tales. It can also be compared to a scavenger hunt as the songs reference one another as every listen brings a new perspective to the narrative.
His second studio album "Letters To Lipscomb" follows the young artist's second college experience and explores the theme of rejection. The album also features the artist's transition to the Pop/Rock genre with every track on the album is a letter Isbell wrote after the abrupt ending of his experience at Lipscomb University in Nashville, TN.
Isbell's third album "Deconstruction" explores the artist's journey through his darkest chapter and highlights his battle with religious trauma, mental illness, and loss of community. The album adopts a dark pop/acoustic hybrid and is memorable for its candor and personal performance.
Isbell began his music career on the Oboe at age 11 and later picked up the piano, guitar, voice, and even the saxophone. He believes that musicianship and storytelling are the two most important concepts when it comes to Songwriting. He also believes that uniqueness is key and illustrates that with his creative choice of instrumentation and style. Univeral themes depicted throughout his discography include emotional expression, dreams, nostalgia, and inner strength.
